Happy Mother’s Day to all of the “Supermoms” out there! To our experienced Mothers … you’ve got it down. You’re a pro, and you prove it every day by doing what you do! Enjoy your special day, Mom!
This special Mother’s Day post is for all of our expectant mothers. You’re going through so many changes, it can be hard to keep up!
During pregnancy, your body goes on a hormonal rollercoaster, and your skin often shows it. Some not-so-pleasant pregnancy effects on your skin can range anywhere from redness and discoloration, to acne and rashes. Pregnancy hormones are hard at work making sure your beautiful baby is happy and healthy. Unfortunately, those hormones aren’t always friendly to your skin. These hormones can cause hyperpigmentation, acne breakouts, and sensitive skin. They also cause your pores to secrete excess oil, often times referred to as the “pregnancy glow.”
To help balance your skin, make sure you are eating a well-balanced diet high in natural vitamins and iron. It’s also important to drink plenty of water to help keep your skin hydrated and healthy.
If you’re having oily skin problem, make sure you use oil-free products that hydrate your skin while helping to control oil levels.
If dry skin is your problem, make sure your skin is staying hydrated by taking short, lukewarm showers instead of hot, and use a hydrating cream moisturizer.
If heat rash is your biggest complaint, wear light layers of clothing to stay cool. Calamine lotion can also soothe your rash irritation.
Hyperpigmentation is also a common skin condition during pregnancy that is caused by higher estrogen levels. Although the discoloration is only temporary (phew!), it can be discouraging to wear this “pregnancy mask,” so why not cover it up with a great concealer? Try I Conceal Flawless Foundation. This all-in-one illuminating, lightweight and water-resistant skin foundation heals and conceals to reveal a healthier, flawless complexion every day.
